Tornado reported near Wimberley, Texas, as thousands without power in Hays County

The tornado allegedly touched down at around 1 a.m. Thursday morning.

HAYS COUNTY, Texas — A tornado reportedly touched down near Wimberley, Texas, early Thursday morning. 

The storm allegedly impacted an area south of Wimberley at around 1:05 a.m. Now, at least 2,000 people are without power in Hays County amid storms. 

At around 4:22 a.m., 2,067 outages were confirmed, with 1,924 of those in San Marcos, according to Find Energy. 

Hays County currently has the second highest number of outages in any U.S. state. The county is under a Flash Flood Warning until 5 a.m., according to the National Weather Service (NWS). 

Several low water crossings have also been reported throughout the county, the NWS shared to social media Thursday morning. 

Over the past three days, Find Energy said the county saw a peak of 5,056 outages. 

It’s unclear exactly when power will be restored.
